Ensure your child is sleeping safely.

The transition from crib to bed can be difficult for parent and child alike. Parents worry about their child's safety and the child has to adjust to a whole new sleeping arrangement. During the transition, you might encounter obstacles, including a child who commonly falls or rolls out of bed. When in a crib, the rails are able to contain even the wildest sleeper. In a toddler bed, however, there is nothing to keep your child in the bed. Fortunately, there are some easy steps to take to ensure your child has a restful and safe night.

Instructions

    • 1

Place your child's bed in a corner. Having walls on two of the four sides will help keep your child in his or her bed.

    • 2

Place one foam pool noodle under the fitted sheet on the outer edge your child's bed. This will create a small bumper that will gently roll your child back toward the center of the bed.

    • 3

Install clip-on bed rails for wilder sleepers. These rails can be purchased at any baby store and extend approximately 8 inches acting as mini-crib rails. They can be attached to most toddler beds and can be removed when no longer needed without damaging the bed itself.
