Keep the big water bottles from freezing

When the temperature falls below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, water will begin to freeze. People who spend time camping or involved in other extended-period activities when the weather is cold need to keep their water supply from freezing. Single water bottles will freeze faster then a 5-gallon water bottle but the same methods apply. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Place the water bottles in a location that doesn't fall below the 32-degree marker. This is the simplest and most logical method.

    • 2

Bury the water bottles in snow. If there is enough snow available it will make an suitable insulator.

    • 3

Wrap the bottles in an appropriate insulator. Use a wool wrap or cell foam.

    • 4

Keep the water bottles upside down. If they do start to freeze they will begin to freeze at the top and spread towards the bottom. The bottles can be caught before they completely freeze.

    • 5

Sleep next to the bottles. If the 5-gallon bottles are being used in a camping setting, they can be placed in the tent. The body heat can keep them from freezing.
