If the measurements of your space are figured in square feet, you may wonder how to convert your square feet measurements into square yards. Although a sales associate at a flooring or landscaping store may be able to help you convert the measurements, it is easy to do this yourself. Using a calculator and some simple math, you can quickly convert the measurements.

Instructions

1. Measure the length and width of your space in feet using a tape measure or other measuring device. Write the two numbers down onto a piece of paper for reference.

2. Multiply the length by the width to figure out the square footage of the space. For example, a room that is 9 feet in length and 10 feet in width would be 90-square feet.

3. Divide the number of square feet by 9. Because there are nine square feet in each square yard, the resulting number will be the converted square yard measurement. For example, a room that is 90-square feet would be equal to 10 square yards.
