Buying postage stamps online can save time.

There may be times when you have cards and letters to mail but have run out of stamps. Rather than going to the post office and standing in line, you can buy stamps online.

Instructions

  1. Uploading and Ordering Stamps

      Go to the U.S. Postal Service website and click on the "Buy Stamps & Shop" button.

      Click on the "Buy a Book of 20 Stamps" link right above the stamps box. This will take you to a page where you have a choice to either buy "Forever" stamps or the current stamps design the USPS is offering at the going postage rate.

      Click on the "Stamps" link at the top of the page. If you don't like the stamp choices on the Postal Store page, and you will get a drop down box.

      Click on the "Books of Stamps" link, and you will navigate to a page with other stamp designs.

    Uploading Personal Photos for Custom Stamp Creation

      Go to Stamps.com, a USPS licensed and approved seller, and click on the "Online Store" button.

      Click on the "Photo NetStamps" box, then click on the "Create NetStamps" button..

      Click on the "Browse" button. For Microsoft Windows users, a box will open, giving you a list of choices. If your photo is saved to your desktop, click on "Desktop." If it's saved to a CD or USB device, click on "Computer," then select the appropriate disk or drive where the photograph is stored.

      Locate the photo you want to use, select it, then wait for the website to upload the photo.

      Make changes to your stamp, if necessary, then select the number of stamps you want and make your purchase.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be prepared to wait three to five business days for stamps to be delivered from the USPS.

  • Be aware that you don't have to wait for stamps from Stamps.com to be mailed to you; you can print them out or save them on your computer.

  • Be prepared to pay for postage and handling when having your stamps delivered through the mail.

  • To use Stamps.com, you have to download its custom software.

  • Stamps.com only supports the Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/Vista Windows 7 operating systems. Apple Macintosh users must explore other options.
