How to Use Libraries in VectorWorks

Vectorworks is a graphics program made by Nemetschek. It is used to create 2-D plans and technical drawings. It can also be used to transform these 2-D representations into 3-D models. The program comes with a number of tools and functions that make the process of creating your design easier. One feature that can greatly speed the user's work flow is the libraries. The libraries are various collections of premade content such as building features and even people. This content can be taken from a library and placed in any document. Unfortunately, many new users are puzzled by the fact that they cannot immediately access the libraries. For whatever reason, you have to first make them available.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the Vectorworks shortcut on your desktop to launch the program.

    • 2

Select "Tools" from the menu and choose "Options." From the options, choose "Vectorworks Preferences."

    • 3

Click the "Session" tab in the dialog that appears. Go to the middle of the dialog box and click the check box next to "Display Default Content." If this is not on, the program cannot see or access the library content. Click "OK."

Use the "Rectangle" tool to draw a shape on the canvas. Then click the "Hatching" button, and you will see a long list of the various types of hatching you can apply to the shape. All your other content libraries are also now filled and ready to use.
