How to Convert mm to Inches With a Calculator

Some rulers measure in both inches and centimeters.

Inches measure distance in the imperial system while millimeters measure distance in the metric system. If you order something that needs assembly from a country that uses the metric system, certain measurements may be in millimeters. However, if you only have rulers that measure in inches, you may need to convert using a calculator in order to determine the proper measurement. As long as you know that there are 25.4 millimeters per inch, converting with a calculator is easily.

Instructions

1. Enter the number of millimeters into the calculator. For example, if you wanted to convert 125 mm, you would enter "125."

2. Push the division key.

3. Enter "25.4," which is the number of millimeters per inch.

4. Push the equals sign to have your calculator display the number of inches. In this example, you would push the equals sign and 4.92 would be displayed, meaning there are about 4.92 inches in 125 millimeters.
