Instructions for Friction Clasps
Many women and men wear necklaces as an accessory or for religious reasons. As these people know, trying to get a necklace on and off can be quite the struggle. Trying to get your hands to maneuver the tiny little clasp at the end of the necklace is difficult when you're trying to hook the necklace from behind your head. Some clasps are more user-friendly than others. One of the easiest clasps to use is the friction clasp. No hooking or special maneuvering is required---just let friction do all the work. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Slide one end of the friction clasp onto the necklace chain. The clasp looks like a tube, and both ends work exactly the same, so it doesn't matter which end of the clasp you decide to use first.
-
2
Slide the other end of the necklace into the clasp once the first side of the necklace is secure. Right now, both ends of the necklace are in the clasp.
-
-
3
Twist the clasp in either a forward or backwards motion to create friction between the clasp and the necklace chain. The force of friction is what holds the clasp and the necklace chain together. The clasp should get harder to twist as the friction builds. Stop when the clasp stops twisting with moderate force applied.
-
4
Give a quick tug on either end of the necklace to make sure it is securely fastened by the friction clasp. You don't want your necklace to accidentally fall off without you noticing. Try repeating steps 1 though 3 if the necklace chain does come loose.
-
5
Twist the friction clasp lightly in the opposite direction and pull the necklace chain to undo the clasp.
