Tips & Warnings

  • Contact the person who installed your microwave for the date of installation. If a contractor installed your microwave, promptly request that the contractor provide you the purchase receipts, owner's manual, product registration card and other papers for the microwave.

  • Create a file for your General Electric microwave and for each of your major appliances and other products. Include the receipt, owner's manual and all other literature that came with your product.

  • Go to the website for the Consumer Products Safety Commission recall and safety alert information to learn if you own or have a recalled product (see Resources). Press the recall notification list link at the bottom of the page and select the recall alerts you wish to receive. Repeat the subscription process for each category of information you desire.

  • Use an authorized General Electric servicer to perform repairs to your microwave. Have your receipt to provide to the repairman. Consult your owner's manual for your warranty rights.

  • You do not need to register your General Electric microwave to exercise your warranty rights and benefits. However, registration helps remove any questions regarding your ownership or the date of purchase of your microwave.
