How to Wire Speakers in a 1998 Chevy Blazer

The 1998 Chevy Blazer is equipped with factory-installed speakers. When replacing these speakers with aftermarket models, there are some instances in which the aftermarket speaker terminals do not match those of the factory-installed speaker. In these cases, the speakers must be wired to the existing car speaker. This can be done with some basic wiring tools.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the speaker wire connector from the back of the old speaker.

    • 2

Cut off the connector from the speaker wires with a set of wire cutters. Cut as close as possible to the connector, preserving the maximum amount of wire.

    • 3

Remove 3/8 inch of insulation from the ends of the wires, using a wire stripper.

    • 4

Place a slide connector onto each of the bare wire ends. Crimp the connectors onto the wires with a crimping tool.

    • 5

Push the slide connectors onto the terminals of your new speaker to wire the speaker into the audio system.
