How to Sew a Britax Car Seat Cover

How to Sew a Britax Car Seat Cover thumbnail
Sewing a Britax car seat cover is a fun project

Babies are restless passengers. When your infant twists and turns, it is helping to wear away the cover on your car seat. Even Britax car-seat covers eventually need to be repaired or replaced. But replacement is just another expense, whereas customizing the repair yourself enables you to save money and apply some creativity to the project.

Things You'll Need

  • Fabric (approximately three yards)
  • Foam padding
  • Nail scissors
  • Sewing marker
  • Pins
  • Sewing machine

Instructions

    • 1

Buy some fabric to create the car cover. Alternatively, you can save money by using some old fabric you have at home. Use soft material without holes.

    • 2

Remove the old Britax car seat cover and, using a pair of nail scissors, cut along the stitching. Do not worry if you accidentally cut into the old material.

    • 3

Spread your fabric over a table or similarly flat surface. Lay out the individual pieces of the old car seat cover, trace around them using a sewing marker and cutout.

    • 4

Repeat with the foam padding. You will be left with identical foam and fabric sections. Pin these sections together.

    • 5

Using a sewing machine, stitch the sections back together. Make sure to keep the foam padding sections on the same side and likewise for the fabric.

    • 6

Hook the new cover over the Britax car seat, with the foam padding on the inside and the fabric on the outside.
