Instructions

    • 1

Cut the avocado in half and remove its seed, without cutting into the seed or removing the seed's skin.

    • 2

Rinse the avocado seed under water to remove any fruit residue.

    • 3

Position the seed, its pointed side facing upward.

    • 4

Insert the toothpicks around the middle of the seed. Evenly space the toothpicks, pushing them into the seed just far enough that they stick out perpendicular from the seed. The toothpicks are to suspend the seed on the cup's rim.

    • 5

Set the avocado in the cup, allowing the ends of the toothpicks to rest on the rim of the cup. Select a cup that is slightly wider than the avocado.

    • 6

Fill the cup with water, so that the bottom half of the avocado is submerged in water.

    • 7

Place the cup in a sunny window.

    • 8

Change the water twice a week. After the seed develops a root system and leafy top, it can be planted in soil.
