How to Plug in an iPod in a 2006 Toyota Corolla LE
If you have all of your favorite tunes loaded onto your iPod, you probably want to listen to them when you travel. This can be frustrating for the many owners of cars without specialized iPod docks, such as the 2006 Toyota Corolla LE. Fortunately, the 2006 Corolla LE does come with a couple of options that make it easy for iPod users to adapt the car to fit their favorite high tech gadget.
Instructions
-
Cassette Adapter
-
1
Look for a tape deck. Some models of the 2006 Toyota Corolla LE were equipped with cassette players. If this is the case for your car, a cassette adapter may be the least complicated option to enable iPod listening while inside your vehicle. A cassette adapter looks exactly like a cassette tape, although it has a wire running from the back end of it.
-
2
Plug the wire running from the back of the cassette adapter into the headphone jack on your iPod and insert the cassette into the cassette player of your 2006 Toyota Corolla LE.
-
-
3
Operate your iPod as you normally would, and the sound will be transmitted through your car's stereo.
Wireless FM Transmitter
-
4
Plug the wireless FM transmitter into the docking port at the bottom of your iPod. Some transmitters may be designed to attach to your iPod through the headphone jack.
-
5
Scan through the radio stations on your 2006 Toyota Corolla LE to find one that is compatible with your adapter. These transmitters utilize unused FM signals in your area by emitting a low wattage signal that can only be detected at close range. As you drive, signal strengths may change, creating the need for you to scan for a new station.
-
6
Operate your iPod as you normally would. When your car stereo detects the signal, the music is played through your stereo speakers.
Auxiliary Adapter
-
7
Look for your auxiliary jack. Most cars manufactured as early as 2006 did not come equipped with an auxiliary jack -- it was not even an option for the 2006 Toyota Corolla. However, if your vehicle has been upgraded with an after-market stereo, you may now have this feature, allowing you to use an auxiliary adapter.
-
8
Plug one end of the auxiliary adapter into the headphone jack or docking port on your iPod, whichever it was designed to fit. Plug the other end of the auxiliary adapter into the auxiliary jack of your 2006 Toyota Corolla LE.
-
9
Operate your iPod as you normally would. Depending on your stereo, the adapter may automatically transmit the music from your iPod to your car stereo, or you may have to turn the stereo on to "CD" or "Auxiliary."
