Instructions for the Proctor Silex 14420 Iron

The Proctor Silex Company manufactures many home appliances, including blenders, skillets, toasters, deep fryers, food choppers and clothes irons. The 14420 is a steam iron that has an adjustable steam switch, spray button, swivel cord and a window into the water reservoir to monitor the water level. Using the iron is fairly simple but should only be done by adults, as the heat and steam from the iron can cause burns if caution is not used.

• Old fabric item

Instructions

1. Pour 1/2 cup of clean tap water into the water tank opening on the iron. Plug the iron into the power supply and turn the steam switch to "Steam." Turn the temperature control dial to the desired temperature setting.

2. Allow two to three minutes for the steam iron to heat. Use the iron on an older piece of fabric first if using the iron for the first time to clear any minerals or deposits from the steam vents prior to ironing other clothes or fabric items.

3. Move the iron in a back-and-forth motion over the item to be ironed.

4. Turn off and unplug the iron when finished.
