How to Make Older Intel Webcam Models Work With Skype

Skype offers a service for communicating over the internet. You can place video calls around the world for free to other Skype users. All you need are an internet connection, a webcam and a microphone to use Skype. An old Intel webcam can work for Skype calls. However, Skype must be setup to recognize the webcam for the service to function.

Instructions

    • 1

Update the latest drivers from Intel so that the webcam possesses compatibility with newer software.

    • 2

Open Skype. In the top menu, click "Tools." Go to "Options." Click "General" and select "Video Settings."

    • 3

Click "Enable Skype Video." Connect the webcam to the computer. You should now see yourself through the webcam's display in the "Video Settings" screen. Place a call with Skype and the webcam now should send video during the call.
