How to Connect an Altec Lansing AVS500
The Altec Lansing AVS500 is a type of 4.1 digital surround sound speaker set designed for Windows-based computers. The set includes four speakers and a subwoofer (the subwoofer accounts for the ".1" in "4.1"). Hooking up your Altec Lansing AVS500 to your computer isn't that different than hooking up a regular set of speakers --- it still plugs directly into your sound card, albeit in a slightly different way.

3
Insert the black cord connected to your Altec Lansing AVS500 subwoofer into the black input on your sound card.
-
4
Connect the individual speaker wires connected to your four speakers into the color-coded inputs on your Altec Lansing AVS500 subwoofer. The speakers are connected to the subwoofer, and the subwoofer is connected to your computer. Match up the colors on the cords and plug them into the appropriately colored inputs. The Altec Lansing AVS500 is now connected to your computer.
