How to Make Wedding Design Borders
Weddings can be very expensive. One way to save money is to create your own wedding stationery. It is possible to save hundreds of dollars on this one item. Besides saving money, creating your own wedding design borders highlights your creativity and personality. Once you have created your own wedding design border you can use it for invitations, programs and thank you cards.

1
Open your image in your photo editing software by clicking "File" then "Open." You should select a photo that is approximately the same size as your project item. For example, you can make a thank you card by folding a half-sheet of cardstock in half and then printing on just the front, which should be 5 1/2 inches by 4 1/4 inches.
-
2
Resize your photo to match the size of the finished project. For example, a program is usually a half-sheet measuring 5 1/2 inches by 8 1/2 inches.

Shapes can be anything you can imagine or create. Create a shape to place on top of the resized image that is about one inch smaller on all sides. The shape would measure 3 1/2 inches by 6 1/2 inches for the program. The shape can be anything from the standard rectangle to an oval or a heart.
-
4
Fill the shape with white or another color of your choice. You might want to use the eyedropper tool to select a color from the photo to use as the shape's fill color. Save the image by clicking "File" and then "Save."
-
5
Set the transparency of the shape to approximately 50 percent if you wish for some of the background to show through. Click "File" and then "Save As" and rename this file to distinguish it from the preceding image.
-
6
Print test images of both files on plain paper first to see which one you like better. Then do a final test on the more expensive cardstock or parchment paper.
