Instructions

    • 1

Prepare the desired cake batter from scratch or use a prepared mix. Pour the batter into each of the pans, two-thirds of the way from the top, with the deep wall of the pans upward.

    • 2

Bake the cakes according to the temperature and time for the cake recipe you are using. Check the cake with a toothpick by pushing in the toothpick into the center the cake, and if there's no cake batter coating the toothpick, the cake is done. Use another toothpick to check the other cake. If the toothpick doesn't come out clean, then place it back into the oven until the toothpick comes out clean.

    • 3

Remove the cakes from the oven, and let them cool for 10 minutes. Remove the cakes from the pans, and let them cool completely.

    • 4

Place the bottom part of the cake with the V-shaped half onto a plate or cake platter. Fill the V-shaped canal part of the cake with the desired filling. Fill the other cake top part of the heart-shaped canal with the filling. Do not overfill the canal.

    • 5

Quickly flip the top part of the cake onto the bottom part of the cake. Frost the cake as you normally frost a layered cake.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you fill the center with ice cream, freeze each half of the cake until the ice cream is firm before putting the two layers together.

  • If you fill the center with fruit, cut the fruit into small pieces, so it fills all of the canal. Fill the bottom and top layer. Put a piece of aluminum foil over the top half, and bend it around the cake. Flip the top half of the cake onto the bottom half. Flatten the sides of the foil, and slide the foil out of the cake.
