Crawl spaces are prone to the infestation of pests and critters. If these tiny spaces are not maintained properly or cleaned frequently, they can collect various elements that attract animals. If you would like to get rid of the critters in your crawl space and prevent them from ever coming back, you need to clean the entire space and make sure that it is well maintained. Check where the critters are getting in. Prior to entering the crawl space, animals must obviously pass through an entrance. Most of the time, there can be more than one source of entry to your crawl space. Follows the trails (such as dirt or prints) that they left to determine where they came from.

Seal off the entry the animals are using with cement and allow it to dry for a few hours. Once you close the entrance, this will force them to look for another way in. Make sure that you seal other areas where the critters can possibly come from or go through.

Set up a trap for the critters. It can be a homemade mouse trap with bait or something larger, depending on the size of the pests that pass through the crawl space. Make sure that you place this somewhere in the middle. Refrain from using poison traps as this can produce a pungent odor in your craw space.

Call a pest control expert to check professional removal if the problem continues. It is recommended that you get a quarterly checkup for pests that may be lurking around your home or other crawl spaces.
