How do I Recover a DIRECTV DVR HD?

The DirecTV HD DVR is a set-top box that allows the user to view HD broadcasts and record live TV. Like other electronics, the HD DVR needs to be recovered when power is lost. DirecTV has made the recovery of their HD DVR boxes very user-friendly, with the easy access to the recovery panel. Once the set-top box is reset using the recovery panel, all of the shows recorded to the DVR will be accessible once again.

Instructions

1. Locate the "Recovery" panel on the front of the DirecTV HD DVR. The panel access door is located on the front right side of the HD DVR.

2. Hold down the "Reset" button on the recovery panel for five seconds until the set-top box turns off and then back on.

3. Allow the HD DVR to reset its settings back to default, reacquire the satellite signal and load up your recorded programs and program guide.

4. Press the "List" button on the remote control for your HD DVR, and you will once again see the list of your recorded programs.

Tips & Warnings

• Unplug the set-top box for 15 seconds to use the alternative reset instructions.
