How to Fix a Pop-A-Ball Arcade Game

In "Pop a Ball," players get to experience a game similar to Poker through the use of colored balls. A player's hand of cards is displayed on a monitor, and as players gain more combinations - such as flushes and straights - they earn more tickets. However, the game occasionally requires servicing and repairs. Only those who are comfortable and trained should attempt repairs on high voltage machinery. Remember to always ensure that the power supply to the system is turned off before attempting any repairs.

Instructions

    • 1

Check to see if Pop a Ball is properly plugged into an outlet. Press the plug firmly into the outlet if it is not already plugged in. Before attempting repairs, unplug the machine. Use the keys provided with the arcade game to open the front access panel.

    • 2

Clear dust and fragments of paper from the ticket dispenser at least once a week. Use a soft cloth to gently wipe around the ticket dispenser. Inside of the front access panel, replace tickets if needed.

    • 3

Use glass cleaner and a soft cloth to gently wipe Pop a Ball's monitor. Wipe around the game controls to ensure that they are not malfunctioning because of dust or other objects.

    • 4

Enter the front access door and look behind the coin mechanism. You will find an "On/Off" switch. Make sure that the switch is set to "On." If the switch is set to "Off," the game will not recognize when coins are inserted.

    • 5

Examine cords and other objects inside of the front access panel to look for signs of damage. Using a key, open the rear access panel and examine the arcade game from that angle as well. If you find any cords that are damaged or cut, do not supply power to the game until after the game has been professionally serviced. You will need to contact Coastal Amusements' customer service at (732) 905-6662. If there are no visible signs of damage, see Step 6.

    • 6

Obtain Pop a Ball's software revision number by entering the game's Operator Mode. Restore the game's power supply and, if possible, look behind the ticket dispenser on the left wall inside of the front access door. Press the "Operator Mode" button located there. On the bottom of the game's display screen, you should see "Version POPABALL" followed by numbers. When contacting Coastal Amusements' customer service department, give them this number in order to get accurate technical support.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you purchased Pop a Ball within the last 90 days, you may be eligible for free repairs under the game's warranty. Contact Coastal Amusements to determine whether or not your system may be eligible.
