How to Allow Microsoft Outlook to Mail Through ISA 2000

The Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) server is an application you install on a Windows server computer. ISA offers several additional components for a server, including proxy services and email hosting. If you want to use Outlook or Outlook Express on the ISA server, you must change the in-box settings to point to the ISA server. The ISA server can host outgoing email, so your Outlook users can send email using the server's Internet connection.

Instructions

    • 1

Double-click the Outlook Express icon on the user's computer. If you use the full version of Outlook, click the Windows "Start" button, click "All Programs," "Microsoft Office," then "Microsoft Outlook" to open the software.

    • 2

Click the "Tools" menu option at the top and click "Email Accounts." This opens a configuration window with a list of accounts configured on the computer.

    • 3

Click the account you want to direct to the ISA server and click "Properties." Click the "Servers" tab to review current settings for outgoing email.

    • 4

Type the ISA server address in the "Outgoing Mail" server text box. Type the account name and password for the user in the text boxes and click "OK." Your settings are saved, and the Outlook software now uses the ISA server for outgoing email.
