How to Find the Value of Trading Cards

If you have been collecting trading cards, you may have some cards in your collection that have increased in value. When you think that you have some trading cards that are valuable, you can try to determine the value of the cards on your own. All types of trading cards can increase in value, including football and hockey cards. Regardless of what type of trading cards you have, the process of determining their value is the same.

Instructions

1. Visit the Tuff Stuff website to use its free online price guides if you have sports trading cards to value. As of November 2010, you can value trading cards for baseball, basketball, football, hockey and racing.

2. Buy a print edition value guide, such as a Beckett guide from the Beckett online store. You can typically buy such value guides from any bookstore that sells magazines by looking in the "hobby" or "collectibles" section of the magazines.

3. Take your trading cards to a local collector's store or trade show to get the cards valued. Typically you have to pay for this service--the price varies by appraiser.

Tips & Warnings

• If you have a valuable card, you can get it professionally graded, which lets other know the condition of the card. The Trading Card Central website has a directory of grading services.
