How to Start a Dropship Website

With a drop shipping business you never have to touch the inventory or put up any money to stock products or carry inventory. The drop ship company handles all products for you. Your job is to advertise, make the sell and collect your percentage of the profits. The customer pays you and you will then place your order through your drop ship company, paying only their price for the product. The drop shipping company's job is to take the payment for your order and ship the product directly to the customer.

Instructions

    • 1

Build a website that includes a shopping cart if you don't have one already and host it using a hosting company such as Go Daddy, Just Host or Blue Host. Add a payment processor such as Authorize, Pay Pal, Amazon Payments or Google Checkout.

    • 2

Sign up with a company that provides drop ship products such as Doba, World Wide Brands or Shopster.

    • 3

Set up pricing for your products and try to stay as close to manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) as possible. If you price below MSRP, it cuts into profits. Pricing higher than MSRP may cause the loss of a sale as well. Add your products and prices to your shopping cart.

    • 4

Market products online through your website, on eBay or an Amazon seller account. Market offline in traditional ways using direct mail, television or radio advertisements.

    • 5

Process customers orders by submitting their order to the dropship company. Include the customer's mailing information and only pay the price the dropship company charges. Keep any money over this price. Some shopping cart, third party or payment processor services automate this process for additional fees.
