How to Diagnose Problems With a Maytag Ice Maker
Maytag makes refrigerators that have ice makers built into the door. If you happen to have a refrigerator that does not have a proper ice maker, you can always buy a stand-alone ice maker from Maytag. These small machines produce a great amount of ice and are ideal for bars that do not have a lot of space for an industrial ice maker (such as the home bar). Although durable, you ice maker may need troubleshooting when ice comes out ill formed or not at all. Does this Spark an idea?

Ice Maker Running

Check the power cord is connected to a working power socket. Plug in another appliance to the socket to ensure the socket is functioning.

Turn the control switch to the "On" position.

Check the circuit breaker for the area of the house the ice maker is plugged into. Flip the circuit breaker to the "On" position if it is not.

Check that the room temperature is above 55 degrees F. The ice maker will not turn on if the room is colder.

Inspect the drain hose for any kinks or leaks that may prevent water from entering the ice maker.
Noise

Remove any ice particles from the water reservoir since this may cause excessive noise. This is normal.

Check that the water supply is hooked to the ice maker if there is a whooshing sound. Tighten it if it is loose using a wrench.

Tighten the drain cap if it is loose or has fallen off.
Running But No Ice

Inspect the water supply tube and remove any kinks. Attach it properly if it is loose.

Call a repair person if the flashing service light is engaged.

Test the ice maker.
