How to Create a Word Find for Kids
A word find is a puzzle that can be played at any age. Various words are hidden among other words and letters to make locating them in the puzzle somewhat difficult. When creating a word puzzle for kids, use a theme so that the words are related. The words the kids are looking for in the puzzle, must also be appropriate for the age group of the kids.

1
Select a theme for the puzzle. Choose words for the search that are related to the theme. For example, an animal theme puzzle might have words that are related to different animals, their location, sounds or behaviors. A picture of a farmhouse can be used for decoration on the paper.

2
Make a list of 10 to 15 words. The words selected must be age-appropriate for the kids doing the puzzle.

3
Type or write the words diagonally, horizontally, vertically, forwards and backwards. This is the way the word find is created. The words are hidden in the way they are written on the page.

4
Fill in the blank spaces with random letters. Filling in the spaces around the words makes the words more difficult to find.
