How to Dip Battery Candles in Beeswax

How to Dip Battery Candles in Beeswax thumbnail
By coating the outside of your battery powered candle with beeswax you add authenticity.

Making candles has been a tried and true craft for many years. Beeswax provides an ideal substance for this process, good for its long-lasting nature. If you are using a battery operated candle, your goal will be to produce the effect of a less artificial candle on the outside while still benefiting from the warm glow of the candle "flame." This being the case, keep the amount of wax on the candle to a minimum.

Instructions

Melt the beeswax. If your beeswax is in a large chunk, break it into pieces for easier melting. Use a double boiler with a few inches of water in the bottom pan, and keep the heat to medium so you do not discolor the wax.

Dip your candle in the beeswax. No part of the bulb should at any time touch the beeswax. Repeat until you are satisfied with the amount of beeswax on the surface of the candle. Be careful not to coat the exterior of the candle with so much wax that the battery powered flame is not visible.

Let the candle cool. For a smoother coating of beeswax on the surface of the candle, roll it gently on wax paper to manipulate the still soft wax.
