How to Create an iWork Keynote Presentation
Keynote is Apple's graphic presentation software that comes as a part of the iWork bundle, a user-friendly computer and Web development package. Keynote allows you to create thorough and professional slide presentations with simple commands and a variety of choices and features. Using Keynote to compose your presentations is a quick and effortless way to engage your audience with professional-quality work and to take command of your work and your own professional image.

Click on the Keynote icon to open the program. The Keynote icon is a brown podium with some papers and a microphone on top. The Keynote icon will be either on your desktop or in your iWork folder. A window will appear with a choice of templates for your presentation.

Click on the desired presentation template. Click on the "Choose" button at the bottom-right corner of the window. You can also double-click the desired selection to choose it. A new window will appear with the first slide, which is the title slide of the presentation.

Double-click on a text box to change or add text. Click on "Inspector" in the upper-right side of the screen. This will bring up the Inspector window where you can alter the individual slides and slide presentation.

Click the framed rectangle icon at the top of the Inspector window to adjust the slide presentation. Select 3-D and 2-D slide effects from the "Effect" option at the bottom. Also select slide movement direction, transition time and effect time.

Click the yellow diamond icon at the top of the Inspector window to adjust individual slides. Select the "Build In" option to alter how the text is first presented on the slide. Select the "Build Out" option to alter how text leaves the slide. Select "Action" to move and format the text on the slide. Both "Build In" and "Build Out" have effect, movement and effect time options.

Click the "New" button, which is designated with a "+" sign, in the upper-left side of the screen to add another slide. Click on the "Masters" option along the top of the screen to choose the form of the slide. A pop-up menu of different slides will appear. Click on the desired form.

Click the Media icon in the upper-right part of the screen. The Media window will appear. Click on the "Photo" option at the top to access your photo library. Click on the desired photo and drag it to the photo area of the slide to insert it.

Click on the first slide of the presentation in the left side menu. Click on the "Play" button located in the upper-left side of the screen to play the slide show.

Create an outline of the presentation using text slides, and then insert photos later.
