How to Tell When Your Wife Is Cheating
Conventional wisdom suggests than married men cheat more often than married women. Yet recent scientific studies find that the rate of infidelity among wives is on the rise. Atlanta psychiatrist Dr. Frank Pittman says women are using high-tech ways, like cell phones and email, to stoke the flames of adultery. For husbands who are worried about their wives' extracurricular activities, there are several signs to look for to find out if their spouses are cheating.

Look for Signs
-
1
Keep track of how often you get romantic with your wife. Keep a record of how often you and your wife make love. If the number of your marital couplings has dropped significantly in recent months, that could be a sign she's hooking up outside the marriage.
-
2
Watch you wife's reaction when her cell phone rings. She might chatting with her lover if she always takes her calls outside of your presence or hangs up abruptly when you walk in the room.

3
Snoop around her when she's on the computer. While reading someone else's emails is a violation of privacy, if she logs off quickly whenever you enter the room, it could be a sign she's exchanging electronic love notes she doesn't want you to see.
-
4
Listen to the way she talks about her friends. New effusive gushing about an old friend could mean she's sparked up a romance with her old buddy. A recent MSNBC.com poll found women who cheat are most likely to do it with an old friend.

5
Hire a private investigator. A professional may be able to capture the proof you need, be it that your wife is cheating or that she's being faithful, to give you closure.
Confrontation
-
6
Asking your wife if she is cheating is one way to find out if she's being unfaithful. Ask your wife point blank if she is cheating. She may be at the point where her guilt is getting the better of her and she will find it a relief to confess.
-
7
Decide whether you want all the details if she confesses to her fidelity. The Mayo Clinic recommends a full disclosure of the events of the affair as a means of accountabliity for the guilty party.
-
8
Ask for space from your unfaithful spouse. You will need room to feel all the feelings of rage, sadness and shock that arise when a husband discovers his wife has been cheating.
-
9
Consult a marriage counselor or licensed therapist, either with your wife or alone. A trained professional can help you figure out if you want to stay with a spouse who has been unfaithful--and if the marriage is worth saving.
