How to Recycle Stonyfield Yogurt Containers
It is widely known that you can help your health by eating yogurt, but you can also be environmentally friendly by reusing the container your yogurt came in. Yogurt containers may be reused or recycled to help reduce waste, provide future storage and even help grow new life in the form of flowers and herbs. Do the environment a favor and save money on buying extra storage containers and pots in the future. Things You'll Need
- Empty Stonyfield yogurt containers
- Soil
- Seeds or small transplant Pplants
- Bulk foods (beans, grains, spices)
- Leftever rood
- Homemade granola, cookies or candies
- Construction paper
- Coloring pencils, markers
- Scissors
- Pencils and pens
- Glue
Instructions

Container Gardneing

Place one cup of organic potting soil in an empty, clean yogurt container.

Place seeds on top of soil, or transplant a small plant on top of the soil.

Cover the seeds lightly with more soil, or place soil around the base of the transplanted plant.

Place plant in sunlight and water daily. Use to grow herbs, flowers or for starter plants.
Bulk Foods

Clean and dry the yogurt container to prepare for storing dried foods or grains.

Place bulk spices, grains or dried beans, nuts and seeds into your dry, clean yogurt container.

Label the container and store. Keep out of direct heat and moisture until ready to use.
Pencil and Pen Holder

Measure the appropriate length of construction paper needed to wrap around the yogurt container. Cut out this pattern.

Decorate the paper by drawing designs, symbols, art work or simply labeling "Pencils/Pens."

Glue the designed covering around the yogurt container.

Place pencils, pens and other writing utensils in the recycled yogurt container and place this container on a desk or table, near a working area.
Food Storage

Place homemade granola, cookies or leftovers in clean, empty yogurt container.

Label container with the name of the food and date. Store in refrigerator to be used throughout the week, or the freezer to store for a couple of months.

Wash the container after use and reuse to store more leftovers.

If a container is no longer usable, take it to a local recycling center. Or recycle it in your neighborhood recycling program. Ask if any of your friends or relatives need plastic storage containers. Donate any extra empty yogurt containers to those who need it.
Do not microwave or heat plastic yogurt containers.
