How to Recycle TracFone SIM Cards

How to Recycle TracFone SIM Cards thumbnail
Recycling programs accept your old SIM cards and other equipment.

TracFones are prepaid cellular phones that allow you to have phone service without monthly fees or contracts. When you have no more use for the phone, consider recycling the device and its related accessories, such as the SIM card. Recycling the phone helps protect the environment by preventing the phone's parts, often toxic in nature, from ending up in landfills.

Instructions

    • 1

Power off the TracFone and remove the SIM card. The SIM card is located in the back of the phone. Remove the battery compartment and slide the card out of the SIM slot.

    • 2

Locate a mobile phone recycling program in your area (see Resources). Although TracFone retail locations do not exist, you may recycle used cell phones and accessories at other locations, such as a recycle center.

    • 3

Take the SIM card (and other old cell phone accessories) to your chosen recycle location.
