Instructions

    • 1

Designate a day to begin your detox. Planning ahead is recommended, as there are some items you must eliminate or refrain from throughout your cleanse.

    • 2

Slowly phase out coffee, alcohol, salt, sugar and sweeteners, animal foods including dairy, eggs, fish, shellfish, chicken, beef, pork, and other meats for at least one week prior. We are often psychologically attached to these and going cold turkey can strain our bodies by making us crave more. So give yourself some time to prepare for your cleanse.

    • 3

Choose your poison, or lack thereof. As people have different tastes, there are many juice combinations to choose from. Mango, papaya and watermelon is a great colon cleansing juice combination. Whereas spinach, broccoli, parsley, apple and pear make for a great liver drink. Either way, be creative so your taste buds never get bored.

    • 4

Cut your fresh fruit or vegetable of choice into small pieces so they are easy to blend. Do not peel them. The skin often contains valuable vitamins and properties that benefit your cleanse.

    • 5

Place your fruit and vegetables into the blender. Pour four ounces of distilled water into the blender. Remember that some fruits, like watermelon, are mostly water so you may not need to use as as much water when blending.

    • 6

Press the blend or liquefy button on your blender. If the juice is too thick for drinking, add distilled water in half ounce increments and blend to your desired consistency.

    • 7

Pour the juice into a glass and enjoy for breakfast, lunch, dinner or a snack in between meals of raw vegetable or fruit salads.

    • 8

Gradually, begin adding grains, oils, meats, and sugars back into your diet after your cleanse period is over. You may find your body is not ready for these. Adding them in small increments and portion sizes is very important. For oils and sugars, try a half teaspoon, for grains no more than a half cup and for meats 4 to 6 ounces.

Tips & Warnings

  • Eating a raw diet for three days to a month is excellent for cleansing your colon and liver. Fresh salads are a great way to continue cleansing your body. Use lemon juice and vinegar on salads to make your own salad dressings and boost your cleanse. A hot salad of steamed vegetables on a bed of romaine lettuce is a great dinner or lunch alternative. Sprinkle with lemon juice and vinegar to taste. Adding slices of fresh lemon to drinking water can be an added boost of natural cleanser.

  • This is not a diet. It is a lifestyle. As you may undoubtedly find yourself losing weight. Do not use this as a weight loss plan. This lifestyle should also be followed with exercise to maintain body health and physical fitness. Avoid using salt, as sodium can dehydrate your body and leave you feeling sluggish. Staying hydrated is very important when cleansing your body for any length of time. This will help your body flush the toxins out.
