How to Get Rid of the Microsoft Network Login

Each time you start Microsoft Windows, a login screen appears asking for a user name and password. You can eliminate this login screen by setting your computer to automatically log in. Windows has a feature that lets you boot directly to the computer's desktop using a default user name and password. This is beneficial for people who have a computer at home and they do not need the security of a login screen.

Instructions

1. Log in to the Windows computer with the user name you want to use as the default login. Click the Windows "Start" button. Type "control userpasswords2" into the text box in the menu pop-up. Press "Enter" to open a configuration window.

2. Remove the check mark labeled "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer." This lets the user access the computer without a user name and password.

3. Click "Apply." A pop-up window opens labeled "Automatically Log On." Click "OK" to accept the settings. Click "OK" again in the main user configuration console.

4. Reboot the computer. The next time you boot, the computer automatically logs in and no network login dialog box is shown.
