The 2Wire Router Won't Accept Firmware Upgrades

The firmware in a router and other electronic devices is the operating system that tells the device how it needs to perform. If the firmware becomes outdated, you may notice that some of the functions will no longer work on the device, or the device itself may become inoperable. Your 2Wire router--now Pace--may have issues with performing an upgrade on the firmware. Basic troubleshooting can be taken to successfully upgrade the firmware.

Instructions

    • 1

Make sure there is an Internet connection established before performing an upgrade. If there is a restricted connection, or no Internet connection, the firmware upgrade may not perform or download successfully. Access a website first to ensure you have full Internet capabilities. Visit sites like Speedtest.net or Internetfrog.com to check your Internet speeds, which will also indicate if there any issues with your Internet connection.

Verify you are downloading the correct firmware for your device. Visit the 2Wire website, access the "Support" link and click "Downloads." Select "Gateways" and click on the specific model router that you're using. Download the firmware associated with your specific model number. If the model number is different than the firmware, it may cause issues and not upgrade.

Perform a reset on your 2Wire device. Navigate to 192.168.1.254 using your Web browser. Your 2Wire router information console will open. Click "Reset" under the troubleshooting tab on the left side of the screen. Click "Reset to factory state," which will reset all configurations of the 2Wire router. Resetting the router should fix configurations that are blocking the firmware from upgrading. Click "Clear local network" first before performing a "Clear reset to factory settings" if you want to try one more option before reverting the 2Wire to factory settings.
