How Do I Program a Viewsat Remote to a Dish Network 311 Receiver?

There are two ways to program a Viewsat remote to control other devices: manual code entry and automatic code search. But you must use the automatic option to program the remote for a Dish Network 311 receiver. Automatic code search allows you to program the remote to your device without having to look up a specific code. You only need to push a few buttons and let the remote do all the work.

Instructions

1. Turn on the Dish Network receiver. Press and hold down the "SAT" button on the remote until the LED light turns on, then release the "SAT" button.

2. Point the remote at the component and press the "Up" button, which has an arrow pointing up. Wait 3 seconds or until the LED stops flashing.

3. If the receiver does not turn off, press the "Up" button again. It takes the remote about 3 seconds to try a code and pressing the "Up" button tells the remote to try the next code. When the receiver turns off, the remote has found a working code and is successfully programed.
