How to Find Lost House Keys
It is frustrating to be packed and ready to head out the door only to discover that the house keys are missing. It is easy to misplace commonly used items, and according to the American Psychological Association, this happens more as we age. Try these strategies to quickly locate the missing keys and get on your way. Then designate a spot near the door to store them so they will always be in reach when you need them. Search in Expected Places

Inspect frequently used bags, purses, coat and pants pockets.

Search tables near entryways and in high traffic areas, such as the kitchen and office.

Check the front and back door locks to see if the keys were left in the locks.
Conduct a Thorough Search

Retrace your steps through your home, looking for the keys with wide, sweeping glances.

Scan all surfaces, especially those between waist and shoulder height, as these are common places to set things.

Inspect beneath chair and couch cushions for keys that may have fallen out of pockets.

Search the car, including the gaps between the seats and the middle console and the space between the chair seat and back.

Use the flashlight to inspect beneath couches, desks and beds, and in the corners of closets.

Tips & Warnings
If losing keys is a frequent problem, get a key chain with a locator alarm. Pressing the button on the locator will cause the keys to beep, allowing you to narrow down their location. Keep the locator in a safe and easily-remembered spot.
Do not attach personal information, such as addresses, to your keys. If keys are misplaced or stolen, this can allow others to use the keys to enter your home.
