How to Increase File Download Speed
Download speed is the rate of data transfer to your computer. A computer's download speed depends on several factors, such as Internet connection speed and the overall performance of your computer. If you are experiencing slow downloads, it is possible to increase your computer's file download speed.

1
Limit your number of downloads taking place at one time. Downloading several files at once slows down individual downloads.
-
2
Schedule your downloads. Download files when you are not using the computer for anything else, during late night or early morning hours. This also avoids the peak hours of Internet usage.
-
-
3
Optimize your web browser. Download and install updates whenever they become available. Delete temporary Internet files, history and cookies that slow down the performance of your browser. Access the "Help" file of your browser for instructions on how to delete Internet files.
-
4
Upgrade your Internet connection. Note that your maximum download speed depends on the speed of your Internet connection. Contact your Internet Service Provider if you want to upgrade to a faster service. You may also consider transferring to another Internet Service Provider if your current one cannot give you the connection speed that you need.

5
Speed up your computer's performance. Access the "Disk Defragmenter" and "Disk Cleanup" utilities in Windows. See the Resources section of this article for instructions on how to clean and defragment your disk.
