GE Spacemaker microwave ovens are designed to be installed above your range, allowing you to save counter space. The microwaves have a light on the bottom to illuminate the range, was well as a fan that acts as a hood. There is also a light inside the microwave, which allows you to see the microwave contents. The light turns on whenever the door is opened, as well as when the microwave is in use. Occasionally, the light bulb will burn out and must be changed. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

  1. Cooktop Light

    • 1

      Disconnect the power to the microwave by unplugging it, or by turning off the breaker in your fuse box.

      Remove the screw from the screw cover, located on the bottom left side of the microwave. Once the screw is removed, lower the light cover.

      Gently pull the bulb out of the socket.

    • 4

      Insert the new bulb into the socket, pushing it in gently.

    • 5

      Close the light cover, and replace the screw to complete the installation.

    Interior Light

    • 6

      Disconnect the power to the microwave by unplugging it, or by turning off the breaker in your fuse box.

      Remove the screws from the top grill of the microwave, above the microwave door. Once the screws have been removed, take off the grill.

      The light cover is located in the center or on the left side of the compartment behind the grill, depending on the model. Remove the light-cover screws, then lift off the light cover.

    • 9

      Remove the light socket by pinching the clips holding it in place.

    • 10

      Pull the light bulb straight out of the light socket, then insert the new light into the socket, gently pushing it in.

    • 11

      Replace the light socket, then replace the light cover and grill to complete the installation.
