How to Add a File Address to a PowerPoint Slide
There are a number of reasons you might want to add a file address to a slide in your PowerPoint presentation. You may want to cite the source of some other information on the slide or have the ability to open a file while showing the presentation. The insertion options available during the creation of a presentation enable you to add a static file address to the footer of a slide or place an active hyperlink to a file for access during the show.

Add to the Footer

Select the "Insert" tab on the Ribbon. Click "Header and Footer."

Click the "Slide" tab, and place a check mark in the "Footer" box. Type the file path and name in the text box immediately below the check box.

Click "Apply" to add the file address to the footer of the current slide. If you want the file address to appear on all of the presentation's slides, click "Apply to All."
Add an Active Link

Select the "Insert" tab on the Ribbon.

Click the "Hyperlink" button. A hyperlink enables you to use the mouse pointer to open a file while presenting your slide show.

Select the "Existing File or Web Page" button on the left side of the dialog. Click the "Current Folder" button to use the operating system's navigation tools. In the file and folder list, navigate to the location of the file you want to use in the presentation. Select the file, and then click the "OK" button to insert a hyperlink on your slide.
Add a Link to an Object

Insert an image, text object or drawing to your slide. The image and text may be any size, providing a large clickable area for the cursor during the presentation. You may also consider drawing a rectangle in the shape of a push button as your link target. Clicking on any of these objects activates the link that you attach to them. Leave the object selected.

Select the "Insert" tab on the Ribbon menu. Click the "Action" icon to open the "Settings" dialog.

Click the "Hyperlink To:" radio button. Open the drop-down list of link options and scroll down to find the "Other File" option. Select the option to open an Explorer dialog.

Navigate to the file you want to link. Select the file and click "OK." Click "OK" on the "Action Settings" dialog to dismiss it. When presenting your slide show, use the mouse pointer to click on the object and display the file.
