How to Prepare Chai Tea
Chai tea is an Indian drink consisting of black tea and spices mixed with milk and sugar. You can buy powdered chai mixes that include milk and sweetener; to prepare these, you simply add hot water. The more traditional chai tea, which is sold in tea bags, is somewhat more complicated to prepare. This style of chai tea consists of only the tea and spices to which you can then add milk and sugar to taste. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Place the bag of chai tea into a mug and pour nearly (but not quite) boiling water over it. Use approximately six to eight ounces of water, but leave enough room for sugar and milk to taste.
-
2
Steep the tea for four to six minutes depending on your personal preference for its strength, then remove the tea bag.

3
Pour sugar to taste into the mug and stir thoroughly with the spoon to dissolve. Start with about a teaspoon of sugar if you are not sure how much you like, then add more if the tea is not sweet enough. Adding the sugar before the milk will allow it to dissolve more easily, as the liquid will be hotter.

4
Pour milk into the mug and stir it with the spoon to blend. Chai tea tends to be milkier than some other teas, so add more milk than you might normally. Taste the tea, then add more milk or sugar if it is not sweet or milky enough.
