How to Refill HP 6500 Cartridges

The HP 6500 is a wireless officejet printer that uses both black and color cartridges. Refilling these cartridges is easy, and once refilled successfully, you will not have to worry about purchasing replacement cartridges every few months. Instead, you will have the refilling equipment at home and will be able to readily get the same cartridge to work again. You have to repeat this activity for each cartridge that needs to be refilled.

Things You'll Need

• Paper towels or newspapers
• Vinyl gloves
• Syringe with needle
• Ink bottle/ink refill kit

Instructions

1. Put the cartridge on paper towels or newspapers. Wear vinyl gloves to protect your hands from ink stains.

2. Use your finger to cover the cartridge's outlet port.

3. Draw about 4 ml of ink into the syringe.

4. Reveal the cartridge's vent hole by peeling off the top label.

5. Pierce the syringe needle through the top label and inject the ink slowly into the sponge. Keep your finger firmly placed on the outlet port and wait for a minute or two until the ink gets soaked up in the sponge.

6. Move your finger and put the cartridge on a towel where you would be able to tolerate a spill. Have the cartridge sit on the towel for two minutes, after which you can place it back inside the printer.

Tips & Warnings

• Do not use the same syringe for refilling a different color ink.
