How to Install a Motion Sensor Switch
A motion sensor light switch automatically turns on a light in a room when someone passes through the zone of detection on the sensor. You can set the timer on the motion switch to turn off the light after a predetermined length of time --- convenient for those who occasionally forget to turn off the lights when they leave the room. Use the manual switch on the motion control to leave the light on in the room for longer periods of time when necessary. Does this Spark an idea?

- Phillips or slotted screwdriver
- Non-contact motion sensor
- Orange wire connectors
- Rocker switch wall plate cover

Turn off the electricity at the breaker panel to disconnect the current light switch.

Remove the wall switch cover plate from the current switch to expose the wiring and the electrical box.

Test the switch to confirm the electricity is disconnected. Using a non-contact voltage tester, touch all the wires in the box to ensure there is no power present.

Remove the current switch from the electrical box by removing the screws at the top and the bottom of the switch. Loosen the screws on the body of the switch and remove the black wires.

Twist an orange wire connector onto the black wire from the motion sensor switch, connecting it to the black power supply wire from the electrical box. The power supply wire runs back to a breaker in the panel box.

Twist another orange wire connector to the remaining black wire from the electrical box, connecting it to the red wire from the motion switch.

Install the motion sensor switch in the electrical box and connect it at the top and the bottom of the box with the screws provided with the motion switch. Cover the switch, wiring and electrical box with a rocker switch wall plate cover.

Turn on the breaker at the panel box to supply electricity to the motion sensor switch.
