How to Sell a Used Car in Nebraska
If you have a used car in Nebraska that you no longer need or do not want to keep, you can sell your used car on your own. When you sell a used car on your own, you are responsible for completing all of the sales paperwork, which consists of a bill of sale and the car title. Selling a used car in Nebraska is similar to selling a used car in any other state, with only one unique requirement in regards to the bill of sale.
Instructions

1
Submit an application for a duplicate title at your local Nebraska DMV office if you cannot find your title. You can download the application on the Nebraska DMV website (see Resources).
-
2
Look up the fair market value of your car on the Kelley Blue Book website (see Resources). You should enter in your Nebraska ZIP code on the Kelley Blue Book site to get an accurate value amount for your make, model and geographic area. Use the private party value on the site. You can use the value amounts you get to determine the price at which you want to list your car for sale.

3
Clean your car and take photos of it. Take photos from different angles, as well as of both the inside and outside of the car. Only take photos in the daytime so that you have good lighting. Additionally, if your car is in a garage, move it out of the garage before taking the photos.
-
4
Place ads with your photos of the car on the Auto Trader website, eBay Motors and Craigslist (see Resources). Prices for ads vary, with some places offering free ads. Place a text-only ad in your local Nebraska newspaper in the classified section, listing your car for sale. In your ads, focus on the car details and check your spelling before posting. If there are problems with your car, disclose them in your ad.
-
5
Create a bill of sale, which should include your name, your address, the buyer's name, buyer's address, the car make, the car year, the car model, the odometer reading, the VIN and the sales price. Leave a space at the bottom for each of you to sign. In Nebraska, you are required to complete the document with the buyer and have it notarized.
-
6
Sign over the title of the vehicle to the buyer once you have completed the bill of sale. This completes the sale of the car and transfer of ownership to the buyer.
