How to Work With a Demanding Boss

Dealing with a demanding boss is not difficult.

Working with a demanding boss can sometimes be the hardest part of your job. Your boss decides what you need to do and when you need to do it, but sometimes bosses can be overly demanding and unrealistic about what their employees can do. If you're constantly stressed out or worried about meeting your boss' demands, there are ways to alleviate some of the tension and improve your relationship with your boss.

Instructions

1. Do your job in an efficient and thorough manner. Plan out your projects and allocate enough time to finish your tasks so there is no room for your boss to complain. Divide the labor by asking coworkers or friends to help you with your tasks if they can.

2. Discuss your problems with your boss. If he constantly demands too much from you or you believe you are assigned too many tasks at once, express your concerns and try to reach a solution or compromise. Your boss may not realize that he is being overly demanding.

3. File a complaint with your boss' superiors or company ombudsman. Only do this if you believe that your boss treats you unfairly or discriminates against you somehow. If your boss demands a lot of everyone, there may be nothing to do.

4. Consider alternative jobs. Talk to your company personnel office to see if there may be similar positions open at different locations. If no transfer is possible, send out your resume and apply for other jobs. Even the most able and successful employees sometimes do not mesh with demanding bosses.
