Georgia has 63,487 nonprofits as of November 2010.

The Georgia Secretary of State grants nonprofit status to organizations that meet the state's requirements to operate under this designation. In order to become a nonprofit, you need to file Articles of Incorporation with the secretary's office and pay a non-refundable application fee. The office also recommends you seek legal advice during the application process and as you set up your corporation to guarantee you meet the requirements of the law.
