How to Change Monitor Colors on a Laptop

Change the color balance on your laptop monitor.

While monitors try to display colors on the screen as accurately as possible, you sometimes need to manually adjust the color settings to get a more realistic balance. Windows 7 has a display calibration wizard that lets you adjust a number of display properties, one of which is the color display balance. You can select between the red, green and blue sliders to give more or less of a color to the overall spectrum.

Instructions

1. Click "Start," then "Control Panel." Type "calibrate display" in the search box located at the top right corner of the screen and select the link entitled "Calibrate display color."

2. Click "Next" three times to get to the gamma adjustment screen, and then click "Next" one more time to leave the current gamma levels at the default setting.

3. Click "skip brightness and contrast adjustment," and then click "Next."

4. Move the slider at the bottom off the screen to adjust the red, green and blue color balance of your monitor. You will see the color balance change immediately as you move the sliders back and forth. Click "Next" once finished.

5. Click "Finish" to accept the new color calibration.
