Syringes are used to insert the ink into the cartridges.

The Epson Stylus 777 is a color inkjet printer that uses a black ink cartridge and a three-color cartridge with cyan, magenta and yellow ink. When the ink level on either of the cartridges runs low, they can be refilled with ink as an alternative to buying new cartridges. The black ink cartridge used in the 777 is the Epson T017201, and the color cartridge used is the Epson T018201. It is important to follow the correct steps when refilling each cartridge to avoid causing damage to the printer.

Instructions

    • 1

Position the ink cartridges on a flat surface over some paper towels to absorb any spilled ink.

    • 2

Place a strip of aluminum tape over the outlet holes on both cartridges. The outlet hole is the hole on the bottom of the cartridge where the ink is extracted from while printing.

    • 3

Fill a syringe with 10 ml of black ink.

    • 4

Fill three syringes with 5 ml each of color ink. Use one syringe for each color.

    • 5

Insert the needle of the black ink syringe into the vent hole on the top of the cartridge. You can find the hole by either peeling up the label or pressing down on the top of the cartridge to feel the indent. Slowly inject the ink into the cartridge.

    • 6

Position the color cartridge so the top label is facing up and the text is facing a readable direction. Insert the needle of the cyan ink cartridge into the vent hole on left side of the top of the cartridge. Slowly inject the ink.

    • 7

Insert the magenta syringe needle into the middle vent hole on the color cartridge. Slowly inject the ink.

    • 8

Insert the yellow syringe into the hole on the right end of the top of the color cartridge. Slowly inject the ink into the cartridge.

    • 9

Place a strip of aluminum tape over the three vent holes on the top of the color cartridge. Place a strip of aluminum tape over the vent hole on the black ink cartridge.

    • 10

Remove the tape from the outlet holes on the bottom of the cartridges.

    • 11

Replace the cartridges into the Epson 777 printer. Let the cartridges rest for eight hours before use so the ink can flow to the bottom of the cartridges.
