How to Do Live Radio in an IRC Channel Room thumbnail
Internet radio broadcasts compete with FM and AM stations,

Internet radio is a fun and easy thing to set up. Unlike regular radio, Internet radio requires no special equipment -- for example, transmitters, complex studios, a frequency rental, etc. etc. -- but rather only requires a broadband Internet connection and a subscription to an Internet radio website. One can use Internet radio for many things: music, discussion, advertising, or simply speaking one's mind. An mIRC plug-in can allow one to indirectly broadcast one's radio into an mIRC chatroom.

Instructions

    • 1

Navigate to http://www.winamp.com/media-player, and install Winamp. Winamp is a

media player through which you'll broadcast your music.

    • 2

Install ShoutCast from http://download.shoutcast.com/beta/sc_serv2_beta_02232010.zip. This is a WinAmp plugin that is vital for broadcasting.

    • 3

      Install AMIP from http://amip.tools-for.net/ds/dl.php?

f=/files/amip_winamp.zip. This program will allow you to semi-integrate your radio broadcast into an mIRC channel.

    • 4

      Install AMIP Configurator from http://amip.tools-for.net/ds/dl.php?

f=/files/amip_config.zip. This program makes much easier the process of

      setting up AMIP.

    • 5

Open WinAmp. Press Ctrl+P in order to open the preferences editor.

    • 6

Click on "DSP/Effect" in the category sidebar. Select "Nullsoft Shoutcast" from the list that appears.

    • 7

Select "Input" and, from the "Input Device" menu, select "Soundcard."

    • 8

Select "Output," and type your radio station's address into the "Address" field. Set a password if you wish. After you are finished, exit from the Shoutcast Source window.

    • 9

      Open up AMIP Configurator.

    • 10

Open "IRC Integration." Enable "Announce Immediately."

    • 11

Open "Presets." Look for the end of Preset 1's string. There, enter your radio station's URL; with this, each announcement in IRC will note your radio station's address.

    • 12

Open "Channels." From here, you can select the channels you would like to make radio announcements in.

    • 13

      Close AMIP Configurator.

    • 14

      Open WinAmp.

    • 15

Begin playing music. AMIP will advertise the song and your radio URL every time a new song plays.
