Instructions

    • 1

Lay the plywood sheet down so you can draw on it with a pencil. Measure two pieces for the side of the CD storage cabinet at 6 1/2 inches by 26 1/2 inches. Mark five pieces measuring 5 inches by 6 1/2 inches, which will be the top, bottom and shelving pieces. Measure one last piece at 26 1/2 inches by 6 inches, which will be the back piece of the storage unit.

    • 2

Use the jigsaw to cut out the pieces, and then smooth the pieces' edges with sandpaper.

    • 3

Place one of the side pieces on its side. Use the ruler and pencil to create a pattern of marks along the long side of the board. The pattern should start from one end with a 1/2-inch space, then a space of 6 inches, and then a space of 1/2 inch. Continue this pattern until the side of the wooden piece has been marked. Repeat this step on the second side piece.

    • 4

Place one of the side pieces on its side. Take one of the five shelving pieces and place it perpendicular to the side piece. Line it up so the shelving piece end fits into one of the 1/2-inch spaces on the side piece.

    • 5

Connect the shelving piece to the side piece using nails and a hammer. The nail should go through the side piece and connect to the shelving piece. Repeat this step with the remaining four shelving pieces and connect them to the four 1/2-inch spaces on the side piece.

    • 6

Connect the second side piece to the unit by lining the piece up to the shelving piece ends that are sticking out from the first side piece. Use the 1/2-inch spaces drawn on the second side piece to connect them correctly. Use the nails and hammer to connect all of the pieces.

    • 7

Lay the unit down so the backside faces upward. Install the back piece to the unit by lining it up to the back of the unit. Hammer nails into the perimeter of the back piece, so the nails connect to the CD storage unit frame created in steps 5 and 6. When finished, you can paint or stain the unit, or use it as-is.
