How to Clean a Kenmore Elite Oven

Tara Kimball

The Kenmore Elite wall oven includes a self-cleaning cycle to keep the oven clean without the need for chemical cleaners and scrubbing. The self-cleaning cycle will occupy the oven for at 3 three hours but will reach high enough temperatures to burn off any debris and residue on the oven. Keep your oven clean by running the self-cleaning cycle any time residue begins to build up.

Step 1

If you recently used your Kenmore Elite wall oven, allow it to cool completely. Remove the broiler pan, aluminum foil and any other items in the oven except for the ceramic oven racks.

Step 2

Clean any spills from the bottom, sides or door of the oven with warm, soapy water and a rag or sponge.

Step 3

Press the “Flex Clean" button on the control panel of your oven. “Clean” will flash on the display and you will see “3:00” appear. This shows the 3-hour cleaning cycle as the default. If you want a 2-hour cleaning cycle, press “2” followed by “0” twice. Set a four-hour cleaning cycle for heavily soiled ovens by pressing “4” followed by “0” twice.

Step 4

Press “Start” and watch for “Cln” to appear on the display. The cleaning cycle will run for the length of time programmed and the door will remain locked for 1 hour after the cleaning process to allow the oven to cool. The door will automatically unlock once the oven is cool.

Step 5

Apply a thin layer of vegetable oil to the sides of the oven racks after the cleaning cycle. Vegetable oil is essential to lubricating the racks and preventing damage.
