How to Recover File Fragments in CHK

The chkdsk program in Microsoft Windows allows users to fix files with fragment errors like the cyclic redundancy error. This program can take up to an hour to scan and fix the fragmented files. Once chkdsk is done, you should have working files.

Instructions

1. Click "Start," then "My Computer."

2. Right-click the drive with the fragmented files. Click "Properties."

3. Click "Tools." Click "Check now."

4. Click "Automatically fix file system errors" and click "Start." All fragmented files that can be fixed will be fixed.

Tips & Warnings

• No files will be removed.

• Turning the computer off during this process will harm the hard drive.
